How do I sync my books across devices?

Sync is part of Doomreader Pro, and Pro is bought on the website:

  1. Open doomreaderapp.com/app/account in a browser, on a phone or a computer.
  2. Sign in with Google or with your email, choose a plan and pay, right on that page.
  3. On every other device, open Doomreader (the Android app, or the website in a browser) and sign in the same way, with the same account.

Your books, your progress in each book, your likes and your notes then follow you across your Android devices and any browser, on a laptop, a desktop or a phone.

What does Pro cost?

Pro is a subscription of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. In India it is charged in rupees, plus GST; everywhere else in US dollars. Which one you see depends on where you open the page from, and the price is shown before you pay. Payments are handled by Razorpay. Pro renews by itself, and you can cancel any time: open the account button and tap "Cancel Pro". Sync stays on until the end of the time you paid for. Buyers in India get a GST invoice for their State; buyers elsewhere get an export invoice.

Can I buy Pro in the Android app?

No. Pro is sold only on the website: open doomreaderapp.com in your browser and get it on your account page. Once bought, Pro works everywhere you sign in with the same account, the Android app included.

Do I need a Google account?

No. You can sign in with Google, or with an email address and a password. An email account is confirmed with a link we email you, and sync starts once you tap it. Forgot the password? Tap "Forgot password?" under the sign-in form. If you signed up with Google, the same link lets you add a password too.

Can I use Doomreader on an iPhone or iPad?

Yes, as a web app. There is no iPhone app yet. Open doomreaderapp.com/app in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and it opens like an app.

On one device it is free, as everywhere. To sync your iPhone with your other devices, get Pro on the website, in Safari on the iPhone itself or on any other browser, signed in with the same account (Google or email).

Which books can I read?

EPUB files and PDFs that have real text, without copy protection, your saved web articles, and the 2,800 free books in Discover. Books with DRM, PDFs that need a password, and scanned PDFs (pictures of pages) cannot be opened.

Where do the free books come from?

From Standard Ebooks, Project Gutenberg and Wikisource. They are public-domain books, complete and free for everyone.

How does Ask work?

Type or speak a question about the book or article you're reading. The answer comes from the text itself, with the passages it used, and it stays behind your place unless you choose to include the pages ahead.

Can I save articles?

Yes. Paste or share a link and the article becomes part of your feed, read like a book.

Where are my books kept?

On your device, in the browser's storage. With Pro, the books you add yourself are also kept in your own cloud space so your other devices can get them. Only your account can reach it. A free book is not copied there: your other devices download it from the free books, as anyone can. The privacy policy has the details.

Does Doomreader collect usage data?

Yes, to improve the app. It uses PostHog to record which screens are opened, what is tapped, errors, and recordings of the screen, with what you type hidden. It never sends your book files, notes or questions as events. You can turn it off in Settings, under "Allow usage analytics". The privacy policy lists exactly what is collected.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, tap the account button, then "Delete my account". That removes your account and everything kept in the cloud for it; the books on the device you are using stay.
